HEAR ME my HUMAN RIGHTS are BEING VIOLATED. I am writing to express my deep concerns and to formally request your office's attention and action regarding what I perceive as significant issues in the workers' compensation system in Washington State, particularly as they pertain to the rights and representation of injured workers. As a resident of Washington State and an advocate for injured workers' rights, I have encountered numerous challenges and barriers in seeking justice and fair treatment within the current system. My experiences, coupled with my research and interactions with other injured workers, have led me to believe that there are systemic issues within our state's approach to workers' compensation that may be infringing upon the federal and state human rights of workers. Key Concerns: Representation and Conflict of Interest: It appears that the State Attorney General's office primarily represents the interests of employers and the state in workers' compensation claims, potentially creating a conflict of interest, as injured workers, who also contribute to the system, may not receive equal representation or advocacy. Human Rights and Workers' Rights: The current system, in my view, inadequately protects the human rights of injured workers, particularly in terms of fair representation, access to adequate benefits, and the right to be heard and treated justly within the legal system. Need for an Ombudsman: The establishment of an independent ombudsman for workers in Washington State could provide much-needed oversight, advocacy, and support for injured workers, ensuring their rights are protected and their voices heard. Request for Action: I respectfully request that your office: Conduct a thorough review of the workers' compensation system in Washington State, with a focus on the representation and rights of injured workers. Consider the potential for a conflict of interest in the current representation structure and explore alternatives that ensure fair and equal representation for all parties involved in workers' compensation claims. Investigate the feasibility and benefits of establishing an independent ombudsman for workers in our state. I believe that addressing these concerns is not only in the interest of injured workers but also in the broader interest of justice, fairness, and the upholding of human rights in our state.
