Saying things are actually better than they are - that people just need to learn to “take yes for an answer” - is not a winning strategy for 2024. People know when they’re struggling, they know when they’re having a hard time - and telling them they’re not invites more anger than affection.
Believe it or not, Biden is touting that he “Made Higher Education More Affordable” as one of his 2023 major accomplishments. This is after Biden resumed student debt payments all on his own for the first time in 3+ years—40M now have an average $400 monthly payment.
