The college loan debt should never have existed. I don't know of any other generation in American history that used its youth as a profit center to exploit rather than as a responsibility to honor. FAFSA is an incomplete credit check granting illegitimate loans on the front end. Removal of bankruptcy protections creates a trap on the back end. Capitalized interest and lack of oversight on servicers creates a nightmare in the middle.

In capitalism, everything (education, health care, shelter, food, etc.) is viewed as an opportunity to extract profit for the ruling elite. The goal is not to set young people up to win, but to feed the machine by creating a subservient and indebted labor force.

Student debt in a fair society would be based on simple interest plus principal and not compound interest plus principal. Compound interest is why it can take decades to pay off Student debt.

If people are okay spending money to put people in prison, but not pay for their education, I can assure you, it's not about the money. Meanwhile in California, they're building 1 classroom for every 20 jail cells. Costs $50k to keep someone in prison. Tuition fees cost $🤫
