The college loan debt should never have existed. I don't know of any other generation in American history that used its youth as a profit center to exploit rather than as a responsibility to honor. Well what you have to realize is college loans have enabled tuition to increase higher than any other thing. Year over year you see increases higher than any other industry. If student loans didn’t exist college would be affordable.

Tax the billion dollar endowments to pay the outstanding debts. All future loans should be secured by the universities themselves. Expand Pell Grants to cover tuition costs of community colleges and state colleges for critical fields. Merry Christmas Marianne!
