No matter what we think of Donald Trump politically, he must be treated fairly by our justice system. Equal treatment before the law not only means that everyone is held accountable, but also that everyone is innocent until proven guilty. Trump has not been proven guilty of insurrection in a court of law, and a ruling based on nothing but that opinion is stepping onto a very slippery slope.

That's the point. They made a ruling on someone's guilt although that person had not been proven guilty in a court of law.

NOWHERE IN THE CONSTITUTION DOES IT SAY HE HAD TO BE "PROVEN GUILTY IN A COURT OF LAW". IT SAYS "ENGAGED IN INSURRECTION" WHICH WE ALL KNOW HE DID. I HAVE NEVER IN MY LIFE BEEN MORE DISAPPOINTED IN SOMEONE I ONCE LOVED AND ADMIRED THAN I AM WITH YOU RIGHT NOW, MARIANNE!

There are different thresholds for civil judgements than criminal. And in CO due process was followed. He didn’t even testify on his own behalf. Sheesh.

No trial needs held for eligibility. Same as if there was a question of citizenship or age requirements. Evidence was provided to the judges of his participation in the insurrection. They found sufficient evidence.
