No matter what we think of Donald Trump politically, he must be treated fairly by our justice system. Equal treatment before the law not only means that everyone is held accountable, but also that everyone is innocent until proven guilty. Trump has not been proven guilty of insurrection in a court of law, and a ruling based on nothing but that opinion is stepping onto a very slippery slope.

Lmao what? It's a constitutional provision which a higher court has made a judgement on. We'll see how it goes. Uncommon Marianne L.

Replying to @tsgrissom17
That's the point. They made a ruling on someone's guilt although that person had not been proven guilty in a court of law.

You want to be president? Jefferson Davis was not convicted of anything. This amendment was written this way on purpose. So confederates or any seditious person could not govern in our republic. "Conviction" is not the standard. ON PURPOSE. You can't be president. Stupid.
If nobody is convicted of a murder, does that mean the murder didn’t occur?
Don’t try to reason with the unreasonable
If their theory is upheld then Biden is responsible for every rapist, murderer, trafficker, and terrorist that illegally enters our country under his open border policy. Maybe he should be removed from the ballots as well?
The President is subject to a different legal system as shown by the Impeachment process which doesn't require a criminal conviction in the standard way.

This is what the CRS report states: "Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment does not expressly require a criminal conviction, and historically, one was not necessary."
They know, and this is how we dismantle due process for everyone! WEEEEEEEEEEE! CIA stooge!!
All you MAGA people out there need to understand something; Whether or not Trump is dq'd by 14th is a CIVIL matter, not criminal. A trial was held, and the judge determined as a finding of fact that Trump engaged in insurrection. End of story!
You do realize a past Colorado court did rule that Trump was responsible for an insurrection, and the RNC was like, "Yeah, you can't do anything with that," and then a Conservative lawyer who worked under Justices Stevens/Rehnquist came along and did. The RNC fucked it up.
