@marwilliamson I hope you understand that. as President, rhetorical "fighting" doesn't count. What you have to, and can without breaking a sweat, do is stop giving Israel the bombs, rockets and other military equipment it uses to kill and intimidate Palestinians. Will you do that?
Will you insist, as a condition of any US support, that Israel withdraw its military presence in and blockade and political control of Gaza, as well its support to all Israeli civilians in all occupied territories?
If not, it's just more hot air.
It's good that you recognize and acknowledge you were wrong about the position you so insistently took. Will you follow through on the implications of that, and, as the UN Report says the international community must, "acknowledge and condemn the settler-colonial nature of the Israeli occupation, demand an immediate end to the illegal occupation, and call on Israel to withdraw its military presence and support to Israeli civilians in the colonies, [without] making withdrawal subject to negotiations between Israel and Palestine,"?
(Because “Meaningful discussions on a political solution for Palestine can only begin when the illegal occupation is dismantled once and for all.")
(And, please, do not introduce Israel's right to "defend itself" into this conversation. Israel does not have a right to defend what the UN report calls its “intentionally acquisitive, segregationist and repressive settler-colonial occupation." Palestinians do have the right to resist it with "all available means, including armed struggle." That is black-letter international law.)
If you are honest, you will answer all three of the specific questions above, so that Americans can know what you will actually do that's different from exactly the same thing every US president has done and every other Democratic and Republican candidate (& RFK, Jr.) will do: make fervent expressions of concern for Palestinians while giving Israel the bombs to kill them and continue its “intentionally acquisitive, segregationist and repressive settler-colonial occupation."
I and all others who have been fighting in whatever way we can for Palestinian liberation think we know what your answers are, and will presume them to be "No," "No," and "No." But as Americans whom you are asking for political support, based on your claim to be different and a more honest and courageous fighter, we deserve an explicit answer from you, and would love to be proven wrong.
