The worst part about the student loan debt is not just that it exists, but WHY it exists. Its very existence is the product of a predatory system that turned the eagerness of young people to get an education, to better their lives, into a profit center for lenders/banks/govt. Public policy should set our young people up to win, not cut them off at their knees.newsweek.com/dying-student-d…

The government virtue-signaled without regard for basic economics, as usual. Of course college gets more expensive when there is more $ to pay for it!

Why are student loan debts exempt from bankruptcy? Is it ti protect fat cat banks? Wouldn't allowing bankruptcy address those that are in legitimate need, vs providing blanket cash? It would also be cheaper for federal gov (ie US taxpayer)

Yep that the gov took over. Tell the real story of how this happened. It'll only help your cause.

Public policy should eliminate the in state/ out of state tuition discrepancy and create a domestic / international tuition separation. Rick international students paint the same as out of state is an atrocious policy.

Not only should student loans be forgiven, the entire federal student financial aid system should be completely abolished.

The city college I went to gave the same or even better quality education than the overpriced university I went to. Our system is a scam in many ways.

My wife was disabled and I had to leave to take care of her. Over 100 credit hours. We have been buried under interest ever since. She had just graduated, she’s 2 years older than me, when she started to get sick. I am 40 now, and I still owe $25k. Nothing I can do.
