I genuinely do not understand Howard Shultz. Allowing Starbucks workers to unionize without making efforts to squash them - to simply obey the law - would cost him nothing and make him a bit of a hero to a lot of people. I've met Starbucks workers who say they love the company and just want it to live up to its own purported values. I believe them. I wish Shultz would.

Rich people all want to hoard wealth because nothing makes more money than hoarding money. If we could change it so spending money makes more money than hoarding it, it would fix capitalism overnight.

If you "genuinely do not understand Howard Shultz," why don't you start a business and grow it into a huge success? You would then understand Howard Shultz. Or you could pontificate in another self-help book, but target it to entrepreneurs.

You think a company should be forced to keep stores open that they want to close? So you are a dictator?

I think it's peer pressure from the billionaire club. They've all taken a solemn oath to crush the little guy in every conceivable way. Breaking that oath will cost them all a fortune. There may be consequences to breaking it, like having one's key to the club washroom revoked.

He's a capitalist – what's to understand? He figures that in the long term, a union would cost the company by bargaining for better pay and conditions. His class interest is to prevent that from happening.
