If you’re serious about the environment, your biggest issue would be overturning the civil rights act. Otherwise you’re just grandstanding. You’ll have trains no one is willing to take.

The issue is not the trains themselves, but you have to move major infrastructure, buyout landowners, sometimes go thru towns. Enormous money is consumed in just this. Brightline in Florida was cheap, majority built where there was nothing, swamp.

I doubt it’ll come to fruition any time soon. They haven’t even made the existing stations easily accessible to disabled people. The ADA set the deadline to be in 2010. That gave them 20 years and they did NOTHING. Dished out some settlements and gave themselves 10 more years 😑
