Imagine if we imagined a world without war within 100 years and reverse engineered from there. Some people think that’s a naïve idea, but I think what’s naïve is to think the species will necessarily survive another hundred years if we don’t at least try. 1/3

We should have peace games as well as war games. We should have a peace Academy as well as a military Academy. We should have an army of peace builders as well as an army of military fighters. 2/3

The biggest threat to the survival of the species is our unwillingness to expand our imaginations, to even consider the possibility that there might be a better way. We keep indulging the magical thinking that it’s someone else’s responsibility to repair the world. But it’s not. It is ours. 3/3

And the United States has been trying to do just that for 100 years. But the reality is that the only language some regimes understand is military might. Hence we use it to stop bad actors. Your black and white view of war and “peace” is indeed naive.

William Perry had an incredible book on how he did it. Have you read it. It’s an incredible playbook.

My call for pacifism comes from Fermi's Paradox. We are the only known intelligence. I call for pledges of demilitarization where 100s of countries from the so-called global south show the global north that peace is attainable.

Look around at all the neighborhoods people consider "affluent" or "crime free". See all those walls and "privacy fences" going up, gated communities, HOAs. New homes don't have front porches any more, just back decks. People are sick of dealing with other people!

The United Nations Security Council is voting on Ceasefire in Gaza today. Fingers crossed that it leads to peace.

it's difficult to expand our imaginations when corporations control those that define them. Step 1 is to end corporate lobbying.
