A majority of Republicans as well as Democrats wants universal healthcare. A majority of Republicans as well as Democrats wants tuition free college and tech school. Yet the candidate who says “Then don’t we have those things?” is violating a cardinal rule of DC politics: never go so far as to upset the corporate donor class because they’ll come after you in the next election. We need a President who isn’t part of that system and has no problem saying “Let them come.”

If GOP electorate wants those things too why do they demonize congresspeople who advocate for those things as commies? RW voters don’t demand those things from the GOP. Why?

It's a measure of our political rot that it takes a character like Trump to propose universal free college and at least not to "let people die in the street." We're in a deep, deep hole. It's dark down here, but Americans are groping for someone, anyone, to lead us out.

I agree. However, don’t support Biden/Harris in 2024 then. They’re regressives who get bad stuff done.

This is, unfortunately, why you can't win in this system. Look how they pulled out all the stops and united everyone to defeat Bernie when he started winning the first primaries.

A friendly reminder that most Progressives disdain #UniversalHealthcare. They are motivated by ideology of a government takeover and can't stand the thought of a blended healthcare system or you choosing for yourself

I want free food. A subsidy toward rent would help. A free phone would be nice And when do I get auto loan forgiveness? What can my country do for ME?

To get voters to support you in actually having these things you will have to specifically outline how you would pay for them, and it can't be raising taxes, which are already too high.

I’m also in favor of universal healthcare and free college. We’ve had free K-12 education for a long time. It’s time to upgrade to free K-16 (or at least K-14). The world is more complex now than when K-12 started. I’m not sure how healthcare would work though.

a majority of voters know the drug war doesn't work, and want change. as the only candidate offering hope in this area for years, it's probably a very good thing to highlight, with concrete steps that can be achieved, while exploring how this will improve overall society.

You do understand the president isn’t a monarch right? That here she has to work with a divided Congress most of the time?
