I see the pseudo-sophisticates on Twitter asking what I’m “possibly hoping to achieve…” by running for President. They’re big on the argument that I could never win.
Whether I win, I cannot control. But I know what I can control. I can control whether people have the option of a President who says this country belongs to a tiny percentage of us, with a political system that perpetuates a fundamental economic injustice. And that we have to change that. A President who offers an Economic Bill of Rights - from MedicareForAll to a guaranteed living wage. Plus a Department of Peace. And a Department of Children and Youth. And ending the War on Drugs.
That’s not just what I “hope” to achieve. Whether or not people choose that option is not under my control, but the option is offered. And I will be able to look at myself in the mirror because I know I offered it. #Marianne2024

Aa far as this being “a big fat ego trip,” please tell me how you think it’s ego inflating to wake up every morning to mountains of attacks and insults from people who know nothing about me and nothing about my work coming out of the mouths of such as you.
