When the trickle-down con first began - and make no mistake about it, it was a massive con perpetrated on the American people - we were told about "job killing regulations." That "job-killing" phrase was the PR narrative created to trick people into thinking that all deregulation was a good thing. In fact, such regulations were job protections, labor protections, worker safety regulations, environmental regulations and so forth. Now we're seeing the result of this painful corporate-driven chapter of American history, in which our middle class has been hollowed out and millions left to suffer.
We need to end that chapter and begin again. #marianne2024
Truck drivers used to make $100,000 a year. Today, many are homeless and live out of their trucks.
The problem is deregulation. Before 1980 the industry was highly regulated, truckers were union, and it was a good job.
Now the industry is unregulated, and drivers are suffering.
