What’s infuriating about the establishment Democrats who go apoplectic re Trump’s increasing authoritarianism is not that they’re wrong. What’s infuriating is their refusal to recognize that the way to counter it effectively is to offer people a more attractive alternative: MedicareForAll, tuition free college and tech school, subsidized childcare, a guaranteed living wage etc. They actively suppress the voice of the one Democratic candidate whose message would defeat Donald Trump. Exactly. Policing language - even neo-fascist language from Trump and others - does more to threaten democracy than save it. In other words, many liberals are complicit. Rather than focus on the reforms you mention, they continue to play a dangerous (for some, profitable) game.
