2,000 was the year when a world class environmentalist won the Presidency and was denied the job. That was the election that was actually stolen. Between the Iraq War and the implosion of our ecosystem described below, Gore’s loss was one of of the greatest tragedies in American history.
Your regular reminder that the world is still not doing nearly enough to avoid dangerous warming If we'd started in 2000, emissions cuts of 3% a yr would have kept us below 1.5C Now, they must fall 18% *every yr* – or we have to use "negative emissions" carbonbrief.org/unep-humanit…

The 2000 election was not “stolen.” It was awarded to George W. Bush by ruling of the SC that halted recount with Bush 537 votes ahead. Ralph Nader (Green Party) may have played spoiler siphoning off 37k Gore votes (Nader: of his 97,421 Fla. voters, 25% favored Bush, 38% Gore).

I really wonder if he was president would 9/11 have happened. Great way to eliminate your competition and not get your hands dirty.

Marianne I dig you, but he wasn’t a world class environmentalist and the election wasn’t stolen. That’s Russian psyop

I think about the effects of that a great deal. Also how if we followed the popular vote our country would be a very different place. The possibilities..

I partly agree it seems the GW Bush admin was a horrible start to this Century and started a very dark timeline per se, however, not the description of how we got there, Gore didn't pursue all his legal options for one, lost his home state; also some blame Nader - not me!

I agree, that was a tragedy for humanity. The war guys had their way over the sustainability folks. It would have been a major direction change for sustainable future.

Marianne I love your work in the world but you don’t understand Geo-political history half as well as you do the inner human psyche. Al Gore is an establishment mouthpiece, no different than the Bushes, Clinton’s, Obama’s and Biden. The establishment is eroding the constitution

I so agree. We’d be in such a different place if he had been president
