You ask this rhetorically, right?

Josh Hawley's new bill to "reverse Citizens United" is a campaign prop. @HawleyMO has proudly taken max checks from and been endorsed by Citizens United — and his bill wouldn't even touch them or the big money elites buying our elections. They got what they paid for with Hawley.

They know Dems are toast and I don’t buy it. We’ve been here before.

My guess is because he doesn't really think it will pass and he will use it in his very tight re-election race to say he is for the little folk. Note it doesn't say anything about contributions from private companies.

1. It didn't. Dems and the left have been trying to overturn Citizens United since it was decided. 2. This bill would quite literally do nothing about dark money. It's a low stakes "play populist" game, and you fell for it. 🤦🏾‍♂️

Same strategy as Team Blue. Propose popular legislation you know won't pass. Then feign helplessness when said legislation gets voted down. Who is going to be the Republicans Designated Villain? I'll wager the Democrats kill it despite all their talk.

Bc democrats don’t fix shit they just tax it

It only seems that way because you’re using willful ignorance in an attempt to score cheap political points. 🤷🏾‍♂️

To do what? To create fake legislation that doesn’t fix the problem? At a minimum, Reps Jaypal and Schiff have previously introduced legislation to end (actually end) Citizens United.
