WADR, but this is both true and a false equivilence. Your take here borders on excusing Israeli actions against the Palestinians since 1948. Israel is the party which has had BY FAR more power here, & a MUCH higher body count, historically. To say that violence will lead to violence does not excuse the responders' violence, but rather gives the instigators' violence its share of the blame.
You cannot brutalize a people for 75 years and then, when they respond with violence of their own, limit yourself to condemning the oppressed peoples' violence. The consistent response is to condemn ALL violence--including your own murder & torture of civilians.
But the powers that be in Israel will never do this; rather they will take the opportunity to ramp up their own violence (and again against civilians) severely.
Already they are calling the Palestinians "animals" and agitating for wiping them out--genocide, ethnic cleansing. And they can count on many pundits' looking the other way from its own, much greater, share of blame as it justifies itself in doing this.
