I look forward to joining the picket line with the UAW in Detroit this coming Wednesday. My father was a labor organizer with the CIO in Detroit in the 1930's. My brother worked for Cesar Chavez in the late 1960's. My parents always said, 'If you cross a picket line don't bother to come home." From WGA and SAG to Amazon to Starbucks to the UAW, organized labor hasn't exerted this much power for decades. It's a long overdue repudiation of institutionalized economic injustice, worthy of all our support. Labor's win is everyone's win, because a more fair society benefits all.

Tomorrow is Yom Kippur, and on Tuesday the President will be there.

I'm not sure what more disappointing. 1) That workers want 40% more pay in exchange for a four day work weeks (or 32 hours vs 40 hours, 20% less) is beyond unreasonable, or 2) that an entire political party is blindly supporting the obscene demands.

The fate of our democracy in part hinges on a strong labor movement. The donor class now has more control over our political parties, regulators, court justices and media (Fourth Estate) than it has since the pre-FDR decade of the Second Klan and Father Coughlin in the 1920s.

Oh good, because politicians and picket lines go together like fran drescher and the unedited version of freebird.

Perhaps you will run into the best president of the 21st century Marianne.

How's Detroit doing nowadays compared to the 1930's?
Time to drop out Marianne. Americans are not going to trust a SINGLE WOMAN with a damn thing! Take it to the bank or spiritual solstice location it doesn’t matter to me. Fill your life with family and purpose, not false hope for children and regurgitations of 30’s ideas.
