Reading is fundamental. This wasn’t the Diary of Anne Frank, it was the graphic novel. It down played the Holocaust. It also wasn’t part of the approved curriculum.

Anne's diary was written in ballpoint pen. Ballpoint pens didn't make it into public use until after the war.
