The problem with Cop City is not that it supports law-enforcement. The problem with Cop City is that it separates law-enforcement from the rest of the community in a way that will foster an “us versus them” attitude. Law enforcement should always be “of” the community. The problem with Cop City is that it would be situated in such away as to be almost impossible to monitor by private citizens. The problem with Cop City is that it’s a centralized seat of power in the hands of law enforcement that is already too militarized and slipping out of the control of those it is meant to serve. Even now - and it hasn’t even been built yet - Cop City is backed by forces abusing the rights of our people to protest it. Cop City represents the worst kind of marriage of corporate and governmental power, a prelude to fascism and the template for a police state. In the wrong hands it would be a training center for urban warfare against our own people. Cop Cities do not belong in a free society. They do not belong in the United States of America.
I fully support the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center because our law enforcement and first responders deserve the best training we can provide so they can keep themselves and the communities they serve safe. Training our police officers, firefighters, and first responders should not be controversial - or political. Instead of hiding behind ballot processes or legal questions for a referendum, I hope elected leaders of both parties from across our state will voice their unequivocal support for the training center to enhance public safety in our capital city and our state for every Georgian we serve.

Starting fires and shooting at a cop is not a right of protest.

I don’t agree with Marianne’s narrative with regards to this issue. On one hand we complain about inadequately trained police force; yet on the other hand, we oppose systematic measures that could resolve this training issue.

I really appreciate that well thought out approach to cop city. I personally need highly trained intelligent cops and until something else presents itself as an alternative I must tell you I fully back cop city because the kind of people who are willing to be cops knowing it may cost them their life are to valuable to lose. These people are 💯 entitled to cop city and the most advanced cutting edge technology available. I am not opposed to your idea of incorporating the community into cop city except for some classified trainings that the community doesn’t need to be involved with based on their own safety. For example.. shooter training shouldn’t be open to the community as the shooter would then know what to plan for and it would give the shooter more power. Guess what the shooter wants? Power. Cops are to valuable to be put in harms way through the negligence of us fighting cop city, they need cop city badly. It is actually a great idea to incorporate the community and have cop city open for everyone to drop in an participate in contributing to the training. It will add to the cops ability to keep fresh and very right now. It will encourage the training to always be evolving with the progress of the times. It also will be great PR for cops instead of PR gigs. Cop PR makes me exceedingly nervous.

Does "Cop City" mean cops can live there, raise a family there, shop there, go to school there and never face any non-Cops? I know it is just training, but in Wisconsin, most government employers, like Cops and Teachers, require them to reside in the city they work for.

The conflict of interest, is that the prison system is on the stock market. Biden's crime bill helped expand police states.
