A major way to help defeat the drug cartels is to dry up their market. End the War on Drugs. Decriminalize, then legalize  and regulate. 1/3

For a fraction of the $100B we spend every year on the failed Drug War, we can help establish a national network of recovery options. We need to move from criminalization to seeing addiction as a health issue. We don't need a Drug czar; we need a Recovery czar. 2/3

Nixon knew drugs wasn't "public enemy #1" when he started the Drug War. It's done more to exacerbate than to solve the problem, including that almost half of federal prisoners are non-violent drug offenders. Enough. Time for a new beginning. 3/3 marianne2024.com

Watching 300 PWUD die every day, unnecessarily is gruesome. This is an emergency, and only government stubbornness is causing them.

Local grassroots movements have succeeded in getting a handful of psychedelic drugs decriminalized in at least 15 cities. Huge shoutout to the Decriminalize Nature movement and Bay Staters for their many successes around the US. The work is not done, but we have progress.

I'm in agreement, & I also think we need to use it as a way to bring in funds for the things we need for the vulnerable & struggling.

You can't force an addict to change. There are nearly 20k rehabs in America now. They are not solving the problem. How will more rehabs solve the problem?

Regulate drugs that come from Mexico? The cartels are definitely on board. How exactly would we regulate tranq and fentanyl?
