.@RobertKennedyJr says it is time to shut down the border. He visited & saw the abuses of the cartel firsthand. Kennedy wants to provide free, federal ID cards to Americans. "If you say you can't get a job without federal ID, the border is going to shut down overnight."

The abuses of the drug cartels aren’t only at the border. The even worse violence is what the migrants are trying to escape to begin with! The last thing we should do is cut off all means of escape entirely. Obviously we need more legal and orderly means of entry and asylum - a Congressional failure to achieve over decades. Also, if we’re to seriously start defeating the drug cartels we should begin by ending the Drug War.

First step is having our government assist and supply these cartels. People don't just up and leave the only life they've known and put their children on a dangerous journey for nothing. Look at Mexico/US companies where the US supplies these cartels for their needs.

Economic migrants (the vast majority) suppress wages & can easily be taken advantage of, according to CESAR CHAVEZ! But Williamson already knew this.

He has mentioned every thing you just said in past explanations but your being idealistic or dishonest if you don't think stricter border is necessary to not overload US social systems and drag down wages. He talks about this issues sensibly and sensitively

@marwilliamson ... as a Puerto Rican who has cultural ties to Latin America. This is a subject that I have spoken to people from México and Central America, we need to legalize all drugs in the US. The US is the consumer, if demand is high the drug cartel will continue
