.@RobertKennedyJr says it is time to shut down the border. He visited & saw the abuses of the cartel firsthand. Kennedy wants to provide free, federal ID cards to Americans. "If you say you can't get a job without federal ID, the border is going to shut down overnight."

The abuses of the drug cartels aren’t only at the border. The even worse violence is what the migrants are trying to escape to begin with! The last thing we should do is cut off all means of escape entirely. Obviously we need more legal and orderly means of entry and asylum - a Congressional failure to achieve over decades. Also, if we’re to seriously start defeating the drug cartels we should begin by ending the Drug War.

What specifically would you do, Marianne? For the people that make it here alive after much abuse, almost all not claiming asylum, and therefore being shipped off to a US city with no state or federal ID, no bank account, then being exploited, working under the table for $6/hr?

We should make it easier to obtain asylum. Some countries allow asylum to be granted on the basis of geo-political instability and don’t require a showing of persecution by state actors on account of the 5 enumerated grounds & I think the U.S. should do this bc we caused instblty

@RobertKennedyJr has said he’s against the sanctions against Cuba and Venezuela and will remove them. These are roots of the immigration problem in US control because the US imposed the harsh sanctions. Why don’t you come out and call for removing these sanctions, Marianne?

Immigrants are a traditional scapegoat for fascists & are not the cause of any major issue affecting USians. It's a distraction used to divert attention from the real problems and their perpetrators. Stay focused on the real issues & don't take their bait.
