The people of Atlanta and north Georgia deserve quality public safety. This requires investment in the police and fire departments. The representatives of GA approved this new training facility. Democracy in action. Stop Cop City folks are not supported here. Some are violent.

Investment in police and fire departments can be appropriate, if the money is allocated well. Copy City is not that. It is a dangerous separation of domestic policing from the population the police are meant to serve, creating an us versus them mentality that is decidedly inappropriate. Cop City is more like a military base for domestic police, and that is a very bad idea. It does not support the population, and it will be very difficult to monitor its operations. Also, many of those who oppose Cop City are absolutely from Atlanta.

It is also very unsurprising and deliberate that such a building was constructed in Atlanta and not Appalachia. While the narcotics epidemic rages on in white communities across the Midwest, these authoritarians see a majority black city and think, "This is where we should be!"
