It’s not enough to invest in clean energy if at the same time you’re ramping up dirty energy. “Look what we’re doing over here so you won’t notice what we’re doing over there.” Green energy investments here; more oil drilling permits and the Willow Project over there. That is NOT taking on Big Oil. Time to declare a climate emergency. Nothing less will answer to the crisis of our time.

Just for a moment, for the sake of argument, let me put aside the nuanced, but very important to understand, point (that we do need the economical fossil-fuel for "high-energy" demanding applications, and, at the same time, do need to come up with a clean/sustainable replacement... or make its burning more efficient/cleaner, if doable?🤔) for a moment, and make this👇 point. We did this to ourselves! Sanctions - their consequences to us, rather!

The clean energy investments would not have passed without increasing permits because the Democrats’ majority was so slim that specifically Joe Manchin had an outsized influence on the process. This is the reality of US governance. You can’t just say things and they happen.
