It doesn’t make me hate them. They’re not violent. Our most powerful institutions have made themselves so inured to traditional forms of protest that such acts of civil disobedience are understandable. This group was not violent in Jackson Hole; the police responding to them were violent. These young people are not criminals; some of the polite diners, however, represent a crime against future generations.

Please understand here... Rainforest and ocean conservation are quite dear to me personally, and it is certainly justifiable that people express outrage. However, for now our electric and cargo grids cannot function without oil. Blocking roads and interrupting rich jerks at dinner will not make this go away, but it will make some people hate the messenger; and that would be tragic.

They could vote for someone like RFK Jr, who would actually do something about it, and spend their energy mobilising a grassroots campaign to ensure it's not stolen by the DNC, but they'll vote for Biden and his ilk again and again despite their being controlled by their targets.
