The reason we should cancel the entire student loan debt is because those loans should never have existed to begin with. Before the 1970s, we had near. tuition free situations in Florida, Texas, and California. This was a malevolent strain of capitalism reaching into the pockets of some of our most vulnerable citizens, people simply trying to better their lives by getting a higher education. Every other advanced democracy has tuition free higher Ed. We should too.

Interesting. I wonder what colleges would look like if they had been 100% taxpayer funded from the beginning? I’m guessing many more engineering programs, etc., not as many liberal arts degrees.

We should just eliminate scarcity by giving everyone a billion dollars 💸 💵 💲 🤑 💰 💱.

Not Canada. We used to have Trades and Administrative Programs taught in free public high schools but it was all abolished years ago. It’s time to bring it back I do believe. High School Diplomas are worthless now.

So, what is the solution moving forward? I have heard nothing proposed in DC which helps future students who haven’t even taken loans out yet. I only hear complaining on Twitter that people wish a different process existed. It doesn’t. So, let’s deal with reality & solutions.

Then shouldn’t you also pay back the people who actually paid their loans back

Price went up when student loans became guaranteed by Uncle Sam; once that happens an institution can charge what they want cause they know they’ll get paid no matter what.

Cancel tuition part of loans & cover public college/uni tuition going forward. Public tax $ belong in public sch (like k-12). College tuition should be covered like it's grades 13-16. And students should remain in good standing while the public is paying the tuition.

People still work on those campuses and they still need to be paid. Buildings need to have lights, internet, computers, heating and cooling. How do you propose to cover costs? Problems need solutions.
