The reason we should cancel the entire student loan debt is because those loans should never have existed to begin with. Before the 1970s, we had near. tuition free situations in Florida, Texas, and California. This was a malevolent strain of capitalism reaching into the pockets of some of our most vulnerable citizens, people simply trying to better their lives by getting a higher education. Every other advanced democracy has tuition free higher Ed. We should too.

I wouldn't disagree we need public education to be free through a bachelor's degree and I also agree the lending is predatory - the whole system is screwed up...yes. However, these are people that willingly, knowingly took out loans. This THEY should be responsible for them not every American tax payer. If you REALLY actually cared about the problem, you should be going after those that made the predatory (if X loan was) loan and have THEM pay. But, you're not, so you won't.

We aren't a democracy though. College shouldn't be free, because it will not be free. Capitalism? I didn't know the DOE was part of capitalism. The DOE is the reason for high cost and high interest.

It's the predatory practice from the very school you are attending. Government grunted loans, then these countries that offer free education you have to get a job with it. No underwater basket weaving degree

Joe Biden is behind all that and YOU support him!!!

Indiana University, 2023-24 tuition = $8,178 (regional) $11,790 (main) Purdue University, 2023-24 tuition = $9,992 ...these costs are easily covered by money that every collegeworthy student is gifted for their scholarship in high school.
The debt cannot be canceled only transferred. But to whom? My wife and I paid for our two sons education, we worked two jobs, our sons worked while in school and we never had a boat , motorcycle, travel trailer, or second home. We made sacrifices so our sons could be debt free.

This has nothing to do with free enterprise (a.k.a. capitalism). This has to do with govt involvement in tuition and education, and people deciding college was the only way to get ahead. Eventually college/university become extensions of highschool. Pay your debts.
