The levels of poverty, despair, psychological distress, and economic hopelessness I'm seeing across the country now ravage the conscience.
There is no growing numb to it.
Unfortunately, human nature allows people to become numb to almost anything. The 1% are totally numb to any distress in the US. They may profess to care about suffering in some faraway land, but then they do nothing about it.
