The biggest problem is that whoever wrote this tweet didn’t even realize how outrageous it is. A one-time $700 assistance check to an entire household that just lost everything… Note that that is considered the “serious” people. If you’re not more serious than that about human suffering, then you’re not serious at all.

2. We're laser-focused on getting aid to survivors, including Critical Needs Assistance: a one-time $700 payment per household offering relief during an unimaginably difficult time. We have staff on the ground dedicated to helping survivors navigate the registration process.

$700 is even less in Maui. I lived there for 8 years before moving to the much more affordable San Diego.

It's almost an insult. In the face of how much goes to other causes (we won't mention a country), it IS an insult.

The reality is the government doesn’t owe them anything. Owning property comes with the responsibility of maintaining disaster/fire insurance. If the capitalist system is working then the insurance company will give them all the money they need.

It’s absolutely pathetic. And if I were on the fence about voting for Biden or not - and I’m NOT: on the fence OR voting for him - this response would have decided it for me. I apologize to all those people who have lost everything on behalf of all us who would give MUCH MORE.

You voted for him and will again. So don’t act like you care. This is on you and all his voters. Biden has been a corrupt lying POS his entire 50 years in politics.
