The biggest problem is that whoever wrote this tweet didn’t even realize how outrageous it is. A one-time $700 assistance check to an entire household that just lost everything… Note that that is considered the “serious” people. If you’re not more serious than that about human suffering, then you’re not serious at all.

2. We're laser-focused on getting aid to survivors, including Critical Needs Assistance: a one-time $700 payment per household offering relief during an unimaginably difficult time. We have staff on the ground dedicated to helping survivors navigate the registration process.

They don't want to set a precedent for providing more $ because they know how many more climate-related disasters are on the way, thanks to decades of their inaction.

No Community Notes yet, huh? That $700 is for "critical needs assistance" - immediate needs. Most people will qualify for and receive more.

You lying (bleep). That money is some temporary financial relief to each family ON TOP OF government help to the whole region. This is a multipart tweet and you are trying to manipulate your followers. Stop it.

Marianne, what is the maximum FEMA payment without congressional approval?
