"At what point do we stop feeling guilty about the past?" - @piersmorgan "After we've paid our debt!" Whatever it costs, it's time to do this. #Reparations

While I commend your desire for justice, I cannot support the idea of genetic guilt - that those of a certain phenotype inherit the collective responsibility for the crimes of all who share their perceived racial identity - as it has justified many horrific acts, historically.

Great explanation as to why this is a debt that is owed!

This is one of the first things I completely disagree with @marwilliamson and it’s a deal breaker issue too. USA doesnt owe any race anything, we also can’t afford to do that & do all other actual good things you say we need that we really do need. Ie: univ healthcare.

That was well done. Stick to issues like this where your insight is so much better than the mainstream norms.

It’s funny how people in the comment section don’t think it’s fair to inherit unearned “debt” or “responsibility” from previous generations but they think it’s perfectly acceptable to inherit unearned Money, Land, Businesses, & Property from previous generations.

Replying to @marwilliamson
I disagree with you on this. Reparations would be impossible to achieve and would accomplish very little except increase resent ment. We need to keep working to help our nation live up to its promise, but reparation is not the way to do this. You still have my vote, though.

QUESTIONS: A- Isn’t WELFARE reparations? B- How much, then, does every white person in owe every black person? C- Once it’s paid will that settle everything & end the guilt & hatred against whites? And can we get that in writing?

Marianne I love you but I have a few problems with this. I used to be for reparations but now I’m not — at least in the current form presented. History has shown ppl generally blow through $$ dropped in their laps and I now believe it doesn’t totally make sense(1/2)

All of these “excuses” for not doing #Reparations have already been debunked, and are used to delay the process. #ReparationsNow
