But let’s just keep drilling, shall we?
“In 1980 losses from three US natural disasters—a drought, a flood and a hurricane—topped $1 billion each (in 2023 dollars). Last year there were 18 $1 billion-plus events, including Hurricane Ian, which was responsible for $114 billion in damage.” bloomberg.com/graphics/2023-…

Disasters are not so bad compared to eventually not being able to grow food.
Maybe, just maybe, the financial genie-out-of-the-bottle will be the insurance pullout. Sooner rather than later insurance companies will be unable to keep up, and the bottom will fall off the barrel.

According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the inflation rate from 1980 to 2023 has been approximately 240.7%. Equivalent value in 1980 dollars = $1 billion / (1 + 240.7%) The equivalent value of $1 billion today in 1980 dollars, accounting for inflation, would be approximately $292.4 million in 1980. So, the question is how many $292.4 million disasters were there in 1980?

How many people are you willing to allow to starve to death to "save the planet"?

I wonder why all the #globalwarming big wigs still own land on the coasts and fly in #privatejets. Except #JimKerry, he only rides in his wife’s jet.
