An increase in our military budget doesn’t correlate to an increase in national security. An increase in our police budget doesn’t correlate to increased safety on our streets. 🧵

Reliance on brute force as our primary mode of problem solving is not the way to end violence; it is the way to perpetuate its vicious cycle.

As President I will establish a Department of Peace. We will harness the powers of peace building, particularly among women and children, to begin to transform both our domestic and international landscapes.

We already have a Department of Peace. It’s called the State Department. But instead of the SD acting as an agency for diplomacy, they act as a mouthpiece for the war machine and an appendage of the intelligence agencies. We need to start engaging in *real* diplomacy.

It should be established with the principle that it will have at least equal funding as the department of war (also misnamed as the Defense Department). If it is decided we only need a small percentage of the defense department budget for the DoP, the cut the defense budget.
Yet you support arming Nazis in Ukraine. That's the opposite of peace.

That's the revolutionary thinking this country needs. What a concept: peace. The US is the only country with a national anthem about WAR! Honestly I think it's time we all grow up here.

External wars have been used to stifle dissent at home. Throughout the years it was the war against the Huns, then the Facists, then the Reds. Now it is the war against Terrorists. It was always the CLASS WAR at home - the war against labor & unions. Controlling the people and $$
