If the average American were to take in the enormity of the tragedy that is Afghanistan today, plus even a fraction of how spectacularly we failed our own soldiers as well as the people of that country, no one, and I mean no one, would be retaining any faith in our political system as it now exists. I don’t know what is worse - its corruption or its ineptitude. Smash the machine and grow flowers in its place. #Marianne2024

Under Obama's reign, that was attempted. But the Citizens United decision blocked removing rich investor's money from the election campaign system. What that money means is no matter what party agenda a voter chooses, the only candidates "visible" were backed by the rich.

Women widowed, or whose husbands are disabled, or women who support elderly parents, are unable to earn a living to keep their families in Afghanistan alive because of the Taliban's bans. This isn't about 'gender ideology'. It is about people wanting their loved ones to live!

while discussing Afghanistan, it's important to note the Taliban has dramatically slashed poppy cultivation, which will lead to heroin shortages around the globe. anyone who thinks that's good will be surprised to learn about fentanyl.
