I agree with Scotland’s plan to end the Drug War and treat addiction as a health issue rather than a criminal issue. I would want to see the same thing here. vice.com/en/article/3akaey/s…

We’re too unhealthy as a society and I fear what that would do to us at this point. Extremely evil people would profit from a free-for-all situation. Consumption/use should be decriminalized, but not manufacturing or trafficking.

FAILED?! Biden's crime bill was meant to criminalize protests against war, for civil rights: "We knew we couldn't make it illegal to be black or against war" Nixon admn

Yet, you want an open border...does this not enhance the availability of dangerous drugs?

Don’t agree, even alcohol is a huge problem. Teach the young to value themselves

In general, I completely agree with this approach, but Scotland and Portugal don’t share a massive land border with a country that’s home to the largest drug cartels on the planet. How are you addressing cartels, specifically?

Washington State places people in treatment instead of incarcerating them; it is a program I embrace; however, there is one problem. The people in the program have to *want* to change. The success rate is incredibly sad (around 1-2%). I don't know the answer, but jail is not it.

We have some data suggesting the status quo, where the quo is imprisonment/criminalization as a deterrent, results in the same or more deaths from overdoses annually than other methods of deterring overdoses (safe consumption/supply initiatives), its murder by policy to not try

Marianne, you see the USA as we can only hope! Thank you for just saying it even if we are not the people with power. I am hopeless that this country will ever care for the people, but you have hope. That’s great! No one has made more sense that you.
