Today’s Supreme Court decision barring Affirmative Action in college admissions is an unfortunate step backward in America’s commitment to social justice. But the deeper problem is that such programs should have ever been necessary to begin with. 1/2

Systemic racism begins in early childhood in the United States, and dealing with it there is how we will override the deepening racial injustices only exacerbated by today’s decision. Unequal opportunity in childhood education is where the problem begins and where we will ultimately solve it. 2/2

We shouldn’t commit to ‘social justice.’ It’s a dog whistle for policies based off of intersectional critical theory.

I supported AA years ago, but now it has become a tool of socioeconomic discrimination. We should only create advantage in admissions for students with socioeconomic disadvantage which then include students from all racial backgrounds.
