Many groups are funded by outsiders who mislead the members as to what the group is for. As far as this group is concerned, the outsiders appear to be funding them to be pro-Biden activists. But if they called it that, then few students would join, and the rules regarding taxation, and reporting to the FEC, would be trouble.
How much funding for American "environmentalist" groups comes from Middle East oil companies, who want to discourage Americans from drilling here, to prevent American competition for their oil? If they did it directly, then it wouldn't work. So they make undisclosed donations to private "environmentalist" groups that do the work for them, without them having to show their faces. The members of the group think that they're there to save the environment, but really they're there to protect ME oil profits. Somewhere up the chain of command will be somebody to see that most of their activities serve that end.
