.@marwilliamson on the importance of continuing to send weapons to Ukraine, her worry that the Left in America today "doesn't give any sense of agency" to Ukranians and why she "resents" other candidates in the race being referred to as the "peace candidate":

Wow, I used to like @marwilliamson. She's the last one I would have expected to punch left and sneer condescendingly about people who object to the proxy war and are pro-peace.

I didn't mean to sound like I object to calling it a proxy war; it IS a proxy war. All I meant to say was that it's not only that ... that the analysis can't stop there.

Peace will not appear from escalating the fighting in Ukraine. A ceasefire will create peace and is a precursor to diplomacy.

How do you suggest we create a cease-fire right now? If we withhold all support from Ukraine, there will not be a cease-fire. Russia will simply crush Ukraine. How is that a pro-peace position? Obviously we should support a negotiated settlement! All efforts in that direction, such as a summit proposed by Denmark, we should support! But simply saying “I’m pro peace” without saying how this would actually be achieved, is just a “let Russia crush Ukraine now” position. That is not a peaceful scenario. The “settlement” would simply be the end of a sovereign nation.

The west ACTIVELY BLOCKED negotiations between Ukr and Ru last year. So much for pro-peace lol. And once the depleted uranium rounds get to Ukraine or nuclear plant gets blown up how'd that help Ukrainians living on the land?

You're pro war and pro imperialism. Ukraine stopped existing as a sovereign nation back in 2014. There's NO WAY you don't know this. You're position is disingenuous. Nobody wants a war monger alternative. You're just sheepdogging anyway.

It stopped being a sovereign nation in the 2014 coup while you were busy playing with crystals.

Maybe Ukrainian far right militias shouldn't have killed 14,000 ethnic Russians in the Donbas since 2014. Or are you denying the truth?

🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ you jump from "How do you suggest we create a cease-fire right now?" to "If we withhold all support frm Ukraine, there will not be a cease-fire" - that's a non sequitur: a cease-fire can only work if both sides agree; & a cease-fire doesn’t mean withdrawal of support🤷🏻‍♀️

they’re already crushing Ukraine. Our support is just drawing out the inevitable process and adding more deaths to the tally.

This is why you are polling so low Marianne. Pro war alternatives to Biden aren’t wanted or needed

I'm sorry peace is not delivered from the barrel of a gun. Anyone who backs the bombs & WMD's, is not in touch with reality if peace is their objective. Make no mistake, the US PROVOKED Russia.
