.@marwilliamson on the importance of continuing to send weapons to Ukraine, her worry that the Left in America today "doesn't give any sense of agency" to Ukranians and why she "resents" other candidates in the race being referred to as the "peace candidate":

Wow, I used to like @marwilliamson. She's the last one I would have expected to punch left and sneer condescendingly about people who object to the proxy war and are pro-peace.

I didn't mean to sound like I object to calling it a proxy war; it IS a proxy war. All I meant to say was that it's not only that ... that the analysis can't stop there.

Peace will not appear from escalating the fighting in Ukraine. A ceasefire will create peace and is a precursor to diplomacy.

How do you suggest we create a cease-fire right now? If we withhold all support from Ukraine, there will not be a cease-fire. Russia will simply crush Ukraine. How is that a pro-peace position? Obviously we should support a negotiated settlement! All efforts in that direction, such as a summit proposed by Denmark, we should support! But simply saying “I’m pro peace” without saying how this would actually be achieved, is just a “let Russia crush Ukraine now” position. That is not a peaceful scenario. The “settlement” would simply be the end of a sovereign nation.

We all heard you the first time. This is a most pitiful attempt to backtrack on a horrible policy position, which you do in fact hold, and have now held since you entered the race. You might as well just endorse Sleepy Joe, now. We all know you were there to begin with to give fake Lefties like Kyle and Krystal something to talk about until they inevitably tell people to Vote Blue Nomatter Who again. What a joke of a campaign. You'd think the Democratic sheep-herders could have found someone with 1/10th of the charisma as Sanders this time around. Nope. Just bargain basement Sanders, with a New-Agey twist.

It is very complicated. Personally, I am against encouraging the destruction of generations of human capital to resolve this political conflict. I think less people would die if NATO wasn’t so militarily involved. They should drop their rifles and start politicking. Those who would claim that is naive do not understand how the pen is mightier than the sword.

We sent $100 billion in weapons to the only country in the world with a fully integrated Nazi military unit. Do you see a problem there? Don’t you think that the country that lost 25 million people because of Nazis would let that slide?

It IS only that. The U.S. and NATO engineered, manufactured, and orchestrated it as such.

It's a proxy war and also a gift to US arm dealers. Let's not complicate things here.
