The trajectory we're on now will lead to a hellish future for our children and our children's children. We must disrupt the fossil fuel industry NOW. As president I will declare a climate emergency, initiating a mass mobilization for a just transition from a dirty to a clean economy. I will cancel the Willow Project. I will approve no new oil drilling permits. It's time to ramp down, not keep ramping up, fossil fuel extraction.
A few weeks ago, I wrote about how pervasive and un-quarantinable wildfire smoke has become. Re-upping today, as smoke from Canada blankets the U.S. northeast. 60% of the smoke impact of American wildfire comes outside the state where the fire is. (1/x) nytimes.com/2023/05/17/opini…

The chances of you becoming president is very small. The fallout can be disastrous for all of us. Try it in 2028 and I will vote for you in the primaries.

The degree to which climate change impacts individuals and communities directly is unclear. Thus an emergency declaration would likely be abused, probably isn't constructive, and would meet hostile resistance. But there must be such a mobilization for improved outcomes generally.

Damn. I have loved your books, “return to love“ saved my life, even. But you just became a HARD NO for my vote for president.

You don't seem to know anything about, well, anything. You'll fit right in.

Thank you! A president who will follow through on this. Eco-anxiety amongst my friends is high and getting more intense.
