What's going on here? In America, if a citizen wants to say "This is why we don't like cops here," they get to say that. Cops don't then get to attack them for daring to say it. Police should be present at Gay Pride to protect the gay population from dangerous prejudice. They're not there to be an expression of it themselves.

I think the function that the police actually serve means they aren't systemically set up to protect queer people; however, the sentiment is very true. And the first part is deadly serious as part of our constitutional rights that the police constantly trample on.
