I really like MW and agree w so much of what she says, but excluding #UBI is a deal-breaker for me. One of the big sticking points w the #WritersStrike is the studios wanting to use AI to write scripts. It's a perfect time to introduce #UBI to a VERY influential group.

I’ve never excluded UBI. I said that last time, and this time. It does not correct the fundamental flaws of hypercapitalism, but as a stopgap measure (perhaps two to five years?) while the ship is being righted and economic justice is being re-introduced into the system, I think it’s good.

A stopgap until we are no longer being replaced by AI, until capital begins to pay workers what they are worth, until we have six weeks paid vacation, until we have Medicare for All and free education, until childcare is paid by the state, and until we have a jobs guarantee. Ok.

what exactly are the flaws of hypercapitalism? also I will say this again UBI is not a fix all and should never be implemented alone. we should address the flaws of our antitrust laws that allow monopolies and conglomerates, and the housing issues needs to be addressed...

Hi Marianne, I m not from the US but I 've followed Yang and UBI closely for the past 9 years. UBI is far more than a stopgap, it is the fastest way to eradicate poverty in the US and if the US started it, Europe and maybe many more countries would follow. That s at stake!
