I really like MW and agree w so much of what she says, but excluding #UBI is a deal-breaker for me. One of the big sticking points w the #WritersStrike is the studios wanting to use AI to write scripts. It's a perfect time to introduce #UBI to a VERY influential group.

I’ve never excluded UBI. I said that last time, and this time. It does not correct the fundamental flaws of hypercapitalism, but as a stopgap measure (perhaps two to five years?) while the ship is being righted and economic justice is being re-introduced into the system, I think it’s good.

Let me give you hypothetical. Would your "temporary stopgap" position change if we saw massive economic and systemic improvements that are directly linked and rely on such a divided solution?

Again. Neither does Universal Healthcare yet you fight for it because you know it would be better for the people. UBI study after UBI study comes to the same conclusion - it does improve the lives of the people, especially to the most marginalized, and is worth endorsement.

UBI ensures a constant flow of capital to everyone in the country, beyond improving lives, that will fundamentally change how the game of capitalism is played. UBI is not a stop gap, it is a permanent structural change we need to even the playing field for the 99%.

Please have a sit down with @scottsantens. No recording. No media. No microphones. Please dedicate 1 hour out of your busy schedule to speak with one of leading voices in poverty eradication and someone genuinely acting in good faith.

If you've never excluded UBI then why isn't it listed anywhere in your platform? Although it should be listed as a policy in areas of your website like crime prevention, it seems like it should definitely be listed here if it was included vs excluded. 👇 marianne2024.com/issues/the-…

Perhaps you could explain how a “job guarantee” addressees the fundamental flaws of hyper-capitalism. Fwiw, it’s not reasonable to expect a job guarantee or UBI to do that. The fundamental flaw is that we allow exploitative monopolistic capitalism to exist at all in the 21st.

You literally excluded UBI, you liar. You used to call for it. Now you’ve excluded it. The fact that you suggest UBI would only be TEMPORARY proves you clearly don’t understand any of this. Drop out. You’re a charlatan and no better than any of the cowards currently in office.

Actually last time you were pushing for it like a decent human being instead of a craven politician who thinks people are dumb enough to believe her lies. The Internet doesn’t forget - drop the Pied Piper BS and actually give people a winning platform worth voting for.

The fundamental flaw of capitalism is capitalism. Capitalism rewards profit, UBI rewards everyone. I disagree with @scottsantens. UBI shouldn't be 'included' in your platform, it should be first, front & centre. UBI is economic democracy, it is economic justice.

Everybody would just be ok after 2-5 years of UBI? That doesn’t make sense. That’s like eliminating the child tax credit after a few years. People will continue living lives and continue needing a basic economic floor. Marianne should reevaluate this incrementalist position
