I’m in England now, where my daughter just gave birth to her first child. There is no way to describe how different the air feels in a hospital where no one is worried about how they’re going to pay the bill.

The NHS is far from perfect, you can wait ages and have to really fight and argue to get anything done. This doesn't mean the US model is better, just that nothing is free. You pay for anything either directly or by taxes. And if you don't restrict by price, you have to queue
