Government should never do for people what they are capable of doing themselves.

The soft bigotry of low expectations is designed by the govt. It removes all incentive to try harder or frankly, at all. There are plenty of pgms (too many) that help ppl down on their luck. If they don’t use those pgms to get OUT of their hole, they just live in a hole longer.

We can't have these kinds of services because ... 1) It's to expensive ... 2) our taxes will go through the roof ... 3) we'll have to wait in line for months for any kind of procedure ... THE ANSWERS TO THOSE QUESTIONS ARE ... NO! ... NO! ... and ... NO!

Tell us (with specifics) how you intend to overcome multiple decades of entrenched division and partisanship in Washington to achieve your objectives marianne. Your positive attitude and sheer willpower didn't alter the path of a hurricane and it won't prompt unity in DC either.

A fearful & ignorant population is easier to manipulate. However, if this does not turn around soon, this country will fall, like empires of the past.

Taxes paid should be used for the public good. We are getting NO benefits whatsoever for the taxes that we pay in ... our corporate bosses are profiting and we scramble for whatever crumbs they allow us to have. At the very least, people's basic needs should be met. Food/Shelter

Correct. And that’s why, by the same token, Americans have been trained to always vote for the lesser of two evils.
