Child labor is a disgrace that our country should never, ever revisit. We need a Department of Children and Youth to ensure our nation’s children are protected and cared for.

Why is not OK for American children to work.. But perfectly OK for young African children to mine all day, everyday, for cobalt to supply Americans with batteries for electric vehicles??

The fines collect from child labor violations need to go to the families and communities; not the same state agencies that failed to protect children to begin with.

Next year’s (23/24) COVID Kindergarteners/1st graders will be in 4th/5th grade. Their entire elementary years will have been spent in societal chaos. The average age of a 5th grader is 12. Policy solutions must include them. Raise the cutoff for your “focus” please.
