One of the most powerful things we can do to end the scourge of a mental health crisis is to end poverty. It's impossible to overestimate the role that chronic economic despair plays in pushing people into a state of crisis.

Absolutely. If you’re poor, it’s harder to obtain enough food to eat and to receive adequate healthcare. If you’re poor, you’re more likely to have unstable (if any) housing and to be the victim of violence and discrimination. And on and on. This is a moral issue.

Yea, and pay mental health workers more. You know insurance companies have not raised rates for mental health services a single cent since before the pandemic... So while our services are in the most demand they've ever been, we make less money than we did a couple years ago.

Poor with a gun leads to murder or suicide. And they want to cut entitlements, not the billions in corporate welfare entitlements but the life giving handouts to the poor.

Marianne connects the dots while other politicians distract with hyperbole & slogans. They play wack-a-mole with the symptoms while Marianne has the solutions that treat the underlying cause. We need a leader with a deeper understanding of the forces at play. #MayThe4th
