A homeless man was murdered on a NYC subway for doing nothing more than screaming that he's hungry. Then the Mayor calls it a "tragedy" related to "mental health issues" rather than a murder for which the murderer must be held accountable. A tragedy here is that so many Americans are so desperate that they're crying out for food in the middle of a subway; the mental health issue applies collectively to a society that can't break through this vicious cycle; and the question remains why no one in the subway car yelled out "STOP IT!!!" as they watched him die.

You’re talking about mental health issues and stuff, but this guy was lashing out at people on a subway, who may be struggling themselves, for not helping him when he could’ve been locked up having 3 hots and a cot. Your ideas are causing harm to regular people. Stop it.

As a New Yorker who rides the subway 10 times a week to my overnight shift, I see the homeless & mentally ill daily. The city has failed them, & the refusal to arrest the murderer is a spit in the face.

I'm sure he did more than scream he was hungry. I doubt those involved intended to murder him. But were trying to stop him from harming others in the car. Still, they did cause his death and will be criminally tried. Maybe, Marianne, worry more about a solution to mental illness.
